From April 10 to 13, 2026, LaLiga will stage its first-ever Retro Matchday, a groundbreaking initiative in European professional football. During the event, all 38 clubs from LALIGA EA SPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION will take to the pitch wearing specially designed kits inspired by iconic shirts from their history. Match officials will also join the celebration, sporting a unique retro design introduced by the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s Referees Technical Committee (CTA).
The Retro Matchday initiative reflects LALIGA’s concept of “A Living Legacy,” turning the rich histories of its clubs into a shared experience that can be seen and worn on the field. The retro jerseys reinterpret classic designs for the modern game, creating a connection between past and present generations of supporters. By blending football heritage with fashion on the pitch, LALIGA becomes the only one of Europe’s five major leagues to organize a coordinated activation of this kind.
The initiative will take place during Matchday 31 of LALIGA EA SPORTS and Matchday 35 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, when all 38 LALIGA clubs will participate by wearing retro kits inspired by historic designs from their past.
